RE: Hocking Hills State Park - Ohio...

You will be fine with the entrance and exit. There is a hill but you travel over much worse on regular highways. There are however, limited spots to accommodate your size rig. There are some available but not too many. You will want to check with the office. We have seen your size rig in the campgrounds often, but again only limited spaces for big rigs. Enjoy.

RE: Carriage cameo

We have the unit you are talking about. We bought it new in February. So far we have been very pleased. We plan to "winter" in it this year. We got the two ACs and added JT strongarms. We have had very little trouble with it. The remote AC control went bad, replaced by dealer. We recommend the "heat pump" version of the carrier AC. We also have the fireplace which we like. Between the heat pump, the fireplace and a quartz heater in the bedroom, no need for a furnace until it gets really really cold. We also recommend Roto choks.
Enjoy.

JT Stongarms question

I have the JT Strongarms and was wondering if after loosening the t bar and then retracting the landing gear, if it is necessary to retighten the t's to keep them from vibrating loose and falling off?? It is a pain to untighten, raise and then retighten each time. Will they stay in and/or do they have a stop of somesort? Thoughts? Ideas?
Thanks,

RE: Asheville NC to Columbus OH US 23

23 is a good road. Lots of four lane. You get to see the countryside. It is not the quickest route as you will go through a number of small towns, but they are interesting. Plenty of places for fuel and food. I travel this route when going by motorcycle to Ashville. I assume you will be driving the Blueridge Parkway. Beautiful drive. You still make resonable time even if it is not a "freeway."

front hitch bike hauling

I have a 25000 HD Silverado with the Duramax and Allison transmission . We are towing a Cameo fifth wheel which does not have a bumper. I am interested in hauling two bicycles. How difficult is it and what problems does it cause to have a front hitch receiver mounted to the truck and use a bicycle carrier on front? Where does one have this done? I don't think they will fit well in the bed of the truck as it is a short bed with a slider hitch. Any thoughts?
Thanks,

RE: Quick connectors on water hose?

Where do you get the brass connectors? When I got mine, they only had plastic, but brass seems like a better idea.

shake

I have installed JT Stabilizers and use Rotochoks. We still get a mild "shake" when someone walks around in the fifth wheel. The only thing I can think to do is put more pressure on the stabilizers, I have snugged them up but am afraid to lift too much as I know they are not designed for lifting the unit. Any suggestions?
thanks

Yamaha 2400 question

My two yamaha 2400's in parallel will NOT run both of my ACs. One is a 15,000 and one is a 13.500. On paper it should, My question- If I turn the battery switch to off will that turn off the converter so that I can get full power to the ACs? The two will run one of the ACs but that is it. The parallel setup has a 30 amp breaker on it. Is that the limiting factor? Suggestions? I have not tried running an AC with just one. Again, would I be best to turn the battery disconnect on to avoid additional draw? Will one 2400 run one of the AC's.?

RE: Carrier Remote Question

The batteries are good. The emergency cool and heat work by hitting the switch on the AC itself. Thus, I am pretty sure it is the remote. The remote just flashes all kinds of stuff. I have hit the reset button and yes it is small and requires a pin. Is there a time limit to do anything? Do I have to point the remote at the AC unit? I am really really frustrated and am worried about the time element. Any other ideas? Thanks

Carrier Remote Question

I have a Carrier A/C that also controls the furnace. The remote to operate it (only way it can be worked except for emergency mode) stopped working. Went to dealer, he said all he did was install new batteries. It worked for a few days. I tried to do that earlier and it did not work even following directions. Now it has stopped working again. We are leaving early next week for a major vacation and need to have the unit working. I have a call in to dealer, but he is closed now and not open until Monday. That is cutting it too close. Anyone have any experience with this? I take the batteries out, put them in (good batteries) and then hit reset button. It just flashes all kinds of partial screens on the control. Anyone who can offer help? I really can't have it messed up on the trip or wife will be forever down on camping, etc. Thanks in advance.

RE: I Recomend a Yahama 2400 gen

Did you just use the 20 amp plug directly into the generator? You can run all that on 20 amps? That is terrific, did you have everything else in the RV off? Battery charger, etc? Sounds great.

RE: portable generators running out of gas while using

I have a y=Yamaha 2400i . Would the switch being in the "on" position without it running mess anything up? Does it have points or is it electronic? I was worried about the manner in which the generator would go off. Would it surge or be intermittent, and cause harm that way? Anyone actually do this on a regular basis?
Things are too expensive to take a chance on ruining an AC.
Thanks

portable generators running out of gas while using

I have a portable generator that I plan to use with my fifth wheel. It has a relatively small gas tank, which should run between 5-8 hours with the use I plan. I know that some have rigged an extra gas tank, or a larger one, but without going to that what happens if I gas up, go to bed with the generator running? Will anything be damaged if it just stops because it is out of gas? I would like to go to bed, let it cool with a/c and then not have to get up in the middle of the night to refuel. The fridge will switch to propane automatically. What would be damaged, if anything, if the generator just stopped for lack of fuel? The A/C?, the generator itself (with the switch on the on position)? I don't want to fool with another tank. Will I cause damage to anything? Thanks

RE: Deals Gap - Dragon RV camping

There is a campground at one end of the dragon. It is small and really designed for motorcyclist. There is also a nice bed and breakfast about half mile down the road for the campground. Enjoy the ride.
